Edition: 300
Sync is a photobook that calls for reflection in times when technological progress seems to be accelerating. Taking part and going along with the “manufacturable world” seems to matter more in the 21st century than coming to one’s senses. In a highly modernist society that largely takes place online, Maria Dabrowski started to focus her photography on finding a new balance. More and more people struggle with burnouts and mental problems continue to increase in our fast-paced, demanding world. Sync tries to shed a new light to a more subjective and natural rhythm, with attention for the details of the everyday.
The analogue photo series enters a layered interaction with the graphic design developed in collaboration with Studio Another Day. The whole is supported by a critical text written by Joris van Merwijk, which puts people’s subjective experience of time above the hectic, objective time of the west.
All books are numbered and signed.

In 2015 Maria Dabrowski decided to journey to Ukraine together with her mother. There her mother met family members on her father’s side and connected with her father’s past for the first time. This publication consists of a collection of photographs that were taken in the years from 2013 through 2016, wherein Dabrowski documents a personal investigation into the “roots” of her family that brought her to both Poland and Ukraine. It is a poignant and very personal narrative which reveals a story of expatriation, war crimes, and traumas. A conversation with her grandfather about his memories of Poland’s dark past completes the story. The title translates as “reveal” or “open”.
